Background
Originally designed by Michael Laird Architects and RHWL Architects to accommodate 3500 staff, the £350 million RBS campus includes a gym, lecture theatre, business school and on-site nursery, amongst other facilities. Over time, RBS have started to relocate staff from other offices to the Gogarburn HQ and therefore need more space to accommodate the growing numbers.
The Problem
With a refresh due, RBS decided to test out their new style and brand identity on House E of the Gogarburn campus before rolling out the new look across all buildings and spaces. This involves installing suitable acoustic treatment so that all team members can work comfortably with no sound issues.
Our Solution
Working alongside renowned Scottish contractor Morris and Spottiswood, we installed 702 Ecophon Solo Hexagon rafts throughout the building. A combination of white and teal rafts were chosen to best represent the RBS brand and ensure a consistent design throughout. Ecophon’s Solo Rafts are a Class A acoustic absorber which effectively reduce reverberation times and delivers a more comfortable space.
A sporadic layout was used to cover the much-needed desk space and futureproof the building for any additional staff that may join RBS.
The Result
A beautifully designed space ready to accommodate staff with a reduced reverberation time and great sound clarity!
