Background

Festool are one of the UK’s leading power tool and site tool manufacturers. In 2019, they moved their HQ into a new state-of-the-art building in Bury St. Edmunds as part of a £10m investment. Here at Husht, we were delighted to be called in to help ensure that Festool’s new offices were up to the same high standard as the rest of the development. In particular, we worked on the impressive ceiling in the building’s atrium.

Our Solution

High atrium ceilings can often pose a challenge when it comes to reverberation, but they also present an opportunity for a great looking centrepiece to an entrance area. In this case, we installed a stunning combination of products, to achieve an attractive and acoustically effective solution. Black Ecophon Sombra tiles were installed in the suspended ceiling in contrast with the white tiles around, and then Stil Acoustics timber baffles were installed below. The end result is a stylish addition to the Festool HQ, which absorbs and diffuses sound waves to ensure the space doesn’t become too noisy, even when there are many visitors and staff using the staircases.
